Orton-Gillingham phonics · Free pilot

Reading, one sound at a time.

A guided phonics climb for young readers. Your child hears each sound, says it out loud, writes it and reads it, and the app listens. You see exactly which sounds are mastered.

01 · HOW IT WORKS

Three steps, then a steady routine.

  1. 1

    Register

Ask to join the free pilot. We approve a small group of families at a time, by hand.

  2. 2

    Add your children

Up to 10 per account. Start at the beginning, pick a sound, or run the short placement check.

  3. 3

    They climb, you see

Your child does today’s lesson on a tablet. You see which sounds are mastered, in progress or need work.

02 · WHAT CHILDREN DO

Nine parts. One new sound. Every day.

  1. 1
    Parts 1–3

    Review

See a letter, say its sound. Hear a sound, write the letter. Read words made of sounds already learned.

  2. 2
    Part 4

    Meet the new sound

Discover it in words, see how the mouth makes it, then learn its keyword picture and gesture.

  3. 3
    Part 5

    Write it

Watch the letter being formed, then trace it in print and in script.

  4. 4
    Parts 6–7

    Spell it, read it

Hear a word and spell it. See a word and read it out loud. The app listens.

  5. 5
    Parts 8–9

    Story and wrap-up

A short story with the words highlighted as they are read, then a look back at today.

03 · HEAR IT, SEE IT, WRITE IT

Multisensory, the way it was taught by hand.

It listens (app screen)

It listens

Speech recognition checks each spoken sound and word. If it can’t hear your child, that never counts as wrong.

Mouth positions (app screen)

Mouth positions

A picture shows where the lips and tongue go, the way an Orton-Gillingham teacher would show it.

Print and script (app screen)

Print and script

Every new sound comes with letter formation, traced on the screen.

04 · WHO IT’S FOR

Parents. Teachers. Tutors.

Parents

  • Nothing to plan. The next lesson is the next sound.
  • Each child gets their own climb: up to 10 children per account in the pilot.
  • See what’s mastered and what needs another day, sound by sound.
  • Runs in the browser on a tablet. PLACEHOLDER: confirm supported devices

Teachers

  • Explicit, systematic, multisensory practice, in the same order every day.
  • A short placement check sets each child’s starting sound.
  • A sound-by-sound grid per child, for planning small groups.
  • PLACEHOLDER: classroom accounts and pricing, not decided. The pilot starts with families.

Tutors

  • Practice between sessions in a structured Orton-Gillingham sequence.
  • Record an outside test score and set the starting point.
  • See which sounds need work before the next session.
  • PLACEHOLDER: tutor plan details, not decided
05 · THE TEACHER BEHIND IT

He needed to be taught the ‘sound / symbol’ connection in direct instruction.

Dorothy Bokor, writing about her son in “Why Johnny Still Can’t Read”

Dorothy Bokor

Dorothy Bokor is a former special education teacher, educational administrator and adjunct professor who trained with Nina Traub, author of Recipe for Reading.

She used the Orton-Gillingham approach to teach her son, who has dyslexia. Years later, mother and son built Climbing With Phonics together.

The app follows her 71-sound sequence and plays her own recorded sounds.

PLACEHOLDER: Background as stated on easyphonicsstore.com/about. Confirm the wording with Dorothy before publishing.

06 · THE OFFER

The free pilot.

The app is brand new and hasn’t been used by real children outside testing yet. So it’s free while we test it with a small group of families. You tell us what breaks, and we fix it.

  • Free during the pilot
  • No card is taken
  • Each request is approved by a real person
  • Up to 10 children per account

07 · QUESTIONS

Asked plainly.

Who is it for?

Children learning to read, built first for about ages 5–7, and older beginning readers who need the sounds taught directly. PLACEHOLDER: final age range

What does it cost?

Nothing during the pilot, and no card is taken. If it becomes a paid monthly plan, you’ll hear first by email, with time to decide. PLACEHOLDER: price

Do you have results or reviews?

Not yet, and we won’t pretend to. The pilot is how we find out. We’ll share what we learn honestly.

Does it record my child?

Spoken answers are sent to Microsoft Azure to be scored. Keeping recordings is off unless you choose it. You agree to this before adding a child.

What do you keep about my child?

A first name or nickname, grade and lesson progress. We don’t ask for a birthday, school or photo.

Is it really Orton-Gillingham?

It follows Dorothy Bokor’s Orton-Gillingham-based sequence: explicit sound–symbol teaching, multisensory steps (see, hear, say, write) and daily review.

What do I need?

A tablet with a microphone and a web browser. PLACEHOLDER: confirm devices, e.g. iPad, Android, Fire
